Retaining link-in-place behind a prompt and DSH_ADOPT kept the divergent
install shape that this change exists to remove, and cost a flag, a prompt,
a dirty-tree warning, a no-commit fallback, and a second linking path.
In-repo mode now adopts unconditionally. A dirty tree adopts silently:
`worktree add` from HEAD cannot carry uncommitted work, so a prompt only
adds a decision the user cannot act on differently.
The original reason for link-in-place — keeping the script testable against
local source — survives adoption, since the staging worktree branches from
the checkout's HEAD and runs the same code. DSH_SOURCE remains the escape
hatch for installing a separate tree.
Net 47 fewer lines in the installer.
Running scripts/install.sh from a checkout linked `dsh` straight at that
checkout, producing an install that `dsh-upgrade` cannot upgrade (there is
no `current` to repoint), that dangles if the checkout moves, and whose
launcher resolves to an arbitrary working branch.
In-repo mode still never clones and never touches the working tree, but it
now offers to adopt the checkout, and adoption is the default. The container
owns staging worktrees and `current`; the repository is discovered via
`git rev-parse --git-common-dir` rather than owned, so a clone anywhere on
disk converges on the same upgradable layout as a curl install and both
share one worktree/exclude/lock/link sequence.
Declining, or DSH_ADOPT=0, keeps the previous link-in-place behavior with a
warning naming what it costs, preserving the path that makes this script
testable against local source.
All path comparisons run on physical paths: macOS resolves /var through a
symlink to /private/var, and comparing a resolved path against an unresolved
one misclassified an existing managed install as a foreign clone.
Verified manually (no install.spec.ts, per request) with a harness driving
the real script under a stubbed pnpm across 33 assertions, plus both
interactive outcomes under tmux.
List direct dependencies by tier (vendored Cordis sources, runtime npm,
dev-only npm, Python SDK, build-time tools) with upstream links and
licenses, and link it from the License section of both READMEs.
demo:web and the README Web UI instructions ran only build:web (the Vite
frontend shell), never the root build that emits each web-client plugin's
lib/client.js. On a clean checkout every /plugins/<id>/client.js 404s and
the client loader shows "Failed to load plugins".
Run pnpm run build before build:web in both the demo:web script and the
README instructions for the installed ~/.dsh/source checkout.
Delete packages/ui/stdio and examples/repl-agent; rename stdio-demo to
@deepseek-ai/dsh-tui-demo (TUI-only, refuses pipes before Loader boot).
tui-agent owns the coding composition inline; echo-agent and the CI demo
smoke move to the one-shot cli-demo bin, which gains -p/--prompt. The
UI-independent with-key e2es move verbatim to tui-agent. SDK wizard's
'stdio' interface becomes 'tui'. PTY testing stays confined to TUI
surfaces; all other subprocess tests ride pipes.
See .agents/notes/implemented/simplification/2026-07-20-retire-readline-front-door.md
Move the interactive pi-tui front door into @deepseek-ai/dsh-tui while keeping @deepseek-ai/dsh-stdio line-oriented for pipes. Select the terminal package in the demo app, preserve logger ownership, and cover the production Loader composition with a PTY smoke test.
Replace outdated references to 'DeepSeek Code' with the correct
product name 'DeepSeek Harness SDK'. Update demo commands to
reflect the SDK nature (demo:agent, demo:acp) rather than the
old coding-agent product.
Establish EN->ZH bilingual documentation for the README and docs tree:
- docs/i18n/README.md — the pairing contract: sibling foo.md <-> foo.zh.md,
English canonical, blob-hash source fingerprints, language switchers,
scope/exclusions, and a manifest-driven rollout ratchet.
- docs/i18n/translation-rules.md — how to translate: faithfulness, structure
preservation, terminology discipline over docs/i18n/terminology.md, and
typography rules grounded in MDN/K8s/Vue/clreq conventions.
- .agents/skills/dsh-translate-docs — the committed agent workflow, following
the dsh-code-review pattern of deferring to docs as sources of truth.
- scripts/verify-translation-pairing.ts + manifest — a doc-sync gate: required
pairs exist; every existing .zh.md is fresh (fingerprint = current source
blob), switcher-linked, structure-matched, and non-orphaned; excluded
(generated) docs stay unpaired. --list prints the translation work list.
- RFC (implemented/process) recording the decision and the alternatives.
- Dogfood: README.zh.md and the two i18n docs translated under their own rules.
Gates: doc-sync green including the new gate; red/green proven for stale
fingerprint, orphan, and excluded-file violations.
- AGENTS.md Commands: fix typecheck/build descriptions; add lint, lint:fix,
test:coverage, knip, publint, hygiene (were undocumented).
- Drop the bare `yarn demo` for explicit `demo:echo` + `demo:coding`; update
README, examples READMEs (and document coding-agent in examples/README).
- New cookbook guide: adding-a-vendored-package.md (the missing "add" half of
vendor/README's update-only procedure).
- architecture.md: add a table-of-contents and extract the Extension cookbook
to docs/cookbook/extension-cookbook.md (link-preserving); drop the completed
"restructure this document" TODO.
- ADR 0009 (capability seams) + 0010 (twin LLM adapters), and a "when to write
an ADR" standard in adr/README.
- Add a committed dsh-code-review skill under .agents/skills, exposed to Claude
Code via a tracked .claude/skills symlink (gitignore carve-out).
Docs: per-folder README.md for packages/ (family overview + one per
package: service, events, API, extension points, TODOs), examples/,
and examples/echo-agent/; folder-level AGENTS.md (+ CLAUDE.md
symlinks) for packages/ and vendor/; module-level doc comments in
every packages/*/src file; richer JSDoc on all exported API
(event side effects, disposal contracts, error behavior). Root
AGENTS.md gains a "Type Safety and Documentation" policy section:
the codebase aims to be very type-safe and well documented; type
gymnastics are acceptable in core packages when they improve
plugin-author DX; verbose docs are fine as long as they stay strictly
in sync with the code.
Type safety: removed the upstream-inherited "noImplicitAny": false
from tsconfig.base.json — packages/* now compile under full strict
mode; vendor/loader and vendor/include set it locally (vendor/cordis
already did). Eliminated every `: any` / `as any` from packages and
examples (catch clauses use unknown + a CodedError narrowing type;
event data access uses discriminated-union narrowing).
Typed tool schemas: new @deepseek-ai/dsh-tools schema DSL —
SchemaSpec with per-property `required: true` booleans, type-level
InferArgs<S>, a runtime SchemaSpec → JSON Schema converter, and
defineTool() so first-party tools get typed execute(args) with zero
casts (raw JSON Schema still accepted for MCP interop; chosen over
schemastery because it targets JSON Schema generation directly).
echo-tool and all test tools migrated; +7 tests.
docs/architecture.md: layering, service map, event taxonomy, the
session/turn/step lifecycle, Cordis waterfall semantics, an extension
cookbook, the plugin sanity checklist mapping every MVP feature to its
extension mechanism, and the deferred-work TODO list (sub-agents,
persistence backends, compaction, DeepSeek V4 adapter, parallel tool
execution, streaming-protocol review).
AGENTS.md: repo layout, commands, conventions (dsh-* naming, ESM,
effect-based registrations, declaration merging, waterfall semantics),
and the vendoring policy pointer.
