Scope decision: previews for a browser that is not on the Host machine are
not supported. With that settled, host.openPath answers the supported case
completely — a file:// document in a real browser has full page capabilities
and no reach into /api — and the HTTP serving this branch had built answered
only the unsupported one.
Removed: the /f route and its listener, the workspace-file URL shape,
ApiProxy.workspaceRootOf, ConnectionHandle.fileUrl, and the port published
into the index page.
Kept, and finished:
- the produced-files row a turn ends with, derived from mutation locations;
- the path link now reads as a link at rest, not only on hover — the reported
"I can't open what it made" was this, sitting on a working capability;
- the Host opener prefers the default BROWSER for .html/.htm/.xhtml/.svg, so
a developer who binds .html to an editor still gets a rendered page
(macOS via the LaunchServices https handler, Linux via $BROWSER, every
failure falling back to the default application).
The retired designs and their measurements stay in the Agent Note, including
why same-origin serving was unsafe and why the sandbox that fixed it broke
the pages invisibly.
A sandbox header bought isolation by taking the document's origin away, and
measuring that cost decided against it: the reported artifact throws
SecurityError on load, and because an uncaught exception aborts the rest of
its <script>, every listener declared after that line — theme toggle, mobile
menu, model tabs — never binds. Two of the four artifacts in the reporting
user's workspace were dead pages under it, and they still looked right.
A second listener on the API's host, answering /f and nothing else, is the
same boundary without the amputation: cross-origin to /api (refused by the
Origin fence and by CORS), same-origin with itself (localStorage, cookies and
fetch all work). Its port is published into the index page; the browser half
reads it to address previews, and its absence — the keyless fixture lane — is
what makes a file row fall back to the Host opener instead of a dead tab.
fileUrl moves from IWorkspaces to ConnectionHandle: the transport owns both
the listener that serves the bytes and the port that addresses it.
Serve one file at a time out of a Session's workspace under /f on the web
transport, and point the conversation's existing file-open affordance at it.
Clicking a write/edit/read row's path now opens that file in a browser tab —
including from a LAN client, where the Host's system opener is fenced to
loopback and answered nothing.
- /f/<sessionId>/<segments> in client-connection, behind the same
browser-trust fence as /api; realpath confinement, streamed reads,
GET/HEAD only, nosniff + no-store.
- Script-capable documents carry CSP sandbox: model-authored markup must not
be same-origin with /api, where events.mux is a readable GET stream.
- ApiProxy.workspaceRootOf answers where a Session's files live without
resuming an agent; the client program cannot reach the core services.
- The /f URL shape lives in dsh-host-apiproxy/api so both ends share one
encoding (client bundles may not value-import another plugin).
Node >= 21 exposes a global `navigator` reporting the machine's own language,
so gating detection on `navigator` let a non-browser boot of the client tree
resolve to `en` instead of the documented fallback; `window` is the browser
test. `navigator.languages` is spec-required but absent on some embedders and
older WebViews, where spreading it would throw at boot, so the walk tolerates
its absence and `navigator.language` covers that host.
The per-spec pin boilerplate collapses into one suite-level
`usePinnedBrowserLanguages('zh-CN')`, which owns the rationale in
dsh-client-test-runtime, and the English-browser e2e scenario now clears the
console warnings channel too — its page has no closing inventory spec.
A first visit resolved to Chinese regardless of the browser: LocaleService
read `dsh.locale` and fell straight back to `zh` when nothing was stored,
ignoring the languages the browser already states it reads.
The initial locale now resolves through three ordered sources — the persisted
preference, then `navigator` (first entry of the ordered language list whose
primary subtag names a shipped locale, so `zh-Hans-CN` -> zh and `en-GB` ->
en), then `FALLBACK_LOCALE`. An explicit choice still wins and nothing writes
the detected locale back to storage, so "has the user chosen?" stays a
question only the stored value answers.
Specs asserting the shipped Chinese copy now state the browser they assume:
the web e2e scenarios open their page with `locale: ZH_BROWSER_LOCALE`, and
package specs pin it through the new `pinBrowserLanguages` test helper.
`settings-chrome.e2e.ts` gains an English-browser scenario as the
assembled-app proof.
Public snapshot state stays in the store engine's plain-data vocabulary
(immer drafts reject Sets without the MapSet plugin, which stays off):
manager/service/contract carry readonly SessionId[] in Host order, and
the tree derivations build their own transient Set — the
expandedProjects pattern. Membership-unchanged installs still keep the
array reference for Object.is short-circuits.
WorkspaceListState gains archivedSessionIds (ReadonlySet, replaced only
on membership change), installed as full snapshots from the list
baseline, the unary echo, and the changed frame. Archiving the current
session clears the selection into the New Session view state. Test
doubles (test-runtime, fake APIs, fixture client) follow the widened
IWorkspaces/IApiClient faces.
Replace the surface-ordered fold with a log-ordered human transcript:
append-origin surface events at their own log positions plus one marker per
landed compaction checkpoint. Command folding, the tool-call index, and the
rev-keyed memo carry over unchanged.
Removes foldDegraded, the padding sentinels, baseSeq, and degradedSeqs() --
they existed only to satisfy the core fold's seq === index assertion. That
also closes the pagination hole A1 exposed: a page can carry a checkpoint
whose shadowed range fell outside the window, and nothing resolves
surfaceOp.start anymore.
The merge gives dsh-client-test-runtime the wire-layer edge its sessions
double needs for the session.search result bound; the generated graph records
it. The double's search signature now reads off ISessions instead of naming
RpcResult, so it cannot drift from the contract it implements and needs no
connection-package edge.
Conflict resolutions:
- `session.list`: master's projection columns fold into the PR's cancellable,
batched `listVisibleSessionSummaries`, which `session.search` shares as its
visibility baseline; master's goal helpers stay beside it.
- Client sessions face: master narrowed `ctx.sessions` to `ISessions`, so the
search verb and its protocol-constant bound are declared there and the
test-runtime double implements them (recorded, empty page unless a scenario
stubs hits).
- `WorkspaceBrowser`: master's per-row Rename wiring rides the PR's search
results view; the tree keeps the PR's query-free derivations.
- `dsh web` bin: the PR's shutdown-handlers-before-readiness order with
master's boot-time LAN address snapshot.
- `session-query-sqlite`: master's `SCHEMA_VERSION` 7 stands; the PR's bump
carried no schema change.
- Specs: master wraps assistant/steering message payloads and requires an
`application/json` carrier request, so the search fixtures and tests follow.
- Web aria goldens keep master's recording plus the PR's search placeholder;
the navigation-panes inventory keeps master's terminal-card golden next to
the PR's search-results golden.
The wire-echo stand-in for list-row settlement (title from the rename
unary response, running flips): benches mirror what the production
manager writes into the list store, so row re-label assertions need no
assembled app. Fixture ISession stubs must NOT call it re-entrantly —
they run inside a React event dispatch already wrapped in act, and a
nested act corrupts the global act queue (the next test renders an empty
tree); tests echo from their own top level instead.
rename is a per-session verb on the outward session face (prompt/cancel
precedent), not a list-service verb: the Session calls session.rename and
applies the response {title, seq} to its projection store under
higher-seq-wins, so the list row updates before the push frame. The fixture
api and the test-runtime double follow the same face.
TestWorkspaces.listDirectory now records the signal and passes it to the
installed stub, mirroring the production face, so cancellation
integration tests can observe or reject on a superseded scan instead of
the harness silently dropping it.
Supersession (newer navigation, path editing, closing, unmount) now
aborts the in-flight listing's request instead of only discarding its
result: the browser mints an AbortController per listing, the signal
rides the workspace face (IWorkspaces.listDirectory gains an optional
signal) onto the fetch carrier, and the Host scan stops with it (817's
cancellation chain). apps/cli keeps both picker packages as dependencies
so the documented one-row cordis.yml swap to the native backend resolves
at boot.
Three ui-conversation spec conflicts resolve to master's SlotTestRuntime
rewrites. Adaptation to the new outward session face: ISession gains the
command verb (the composer chip and the /permission picker submit through
it), FixtureSession grows the matching fail-loud stub plus the
waitingApproval summary default, and the picker reads the projection
through projections.faceOf (the ProjectionsFace shape) instead of the
retired store getter.
- The browse client half mirrors -native's rollback: a pair construction
that throws halfway (declared-but-occupied second hole) disposes the
earlier deferral before rethrowing, so no orphaned slot subscription
outlives the failed fiber (ds-review-bot).
- The TestWorkspaces browse methods gain the coverage CI's per-file gate
requires (defaults + stub overrides, recorded like their siblings).
master's new ctx.workspaces contract face (IWorkspaces + TestWorkspaces
double) predates this stack's listDirectory/createDirectory; widening the
face is the explicit act of letting the browse flow drive them, and the
double records/stubs them like its siblings.
