Review follow-up: the llm/adapters-updated listener's disposer was
discarded, leaving it firing (harmlessly, behind isDisposed()) between
TUI shutdown and fiber disposal, asymmetric with the sibling channel
listeners. The controller now exposes detach(), and the channel's
detachListeners() calls it on both the dispose() and startup-failure
paths.
Loader activation is service-driven, so the TUI can mount before a
configured adapter plugin registers its provider routes; every fresh
session then printed 'Could not resolve model context: no adapter
registered for provider …' for a working configuration.
The model controller now treats a NO_ADAPTER rejection of the
context-window resolution as transient: it parks the resolution
silently and re-resolves on the next llm/adapters-updated commit. A
commit that still lacks the route parks the wait again; any target
change clears it; all other resolution errors still surface. A wrong
provider name keeps failing loudly at dispatch, where it is actionable.
The master merge added a web card whose renderBody content narrow checked
only card === 'generic', so a read card fell through to the raw result
content and rendered the full <path>/<type>/<content> envelope instead of
the envelope-stripped text. Include card === 'read' in that narrow, mirroring
the markdownContent selection in render(); the parallel-file-reads terminal
golden is byte-for-byte unchanged.
Address the review of the search render card:
- The search result view carries no `content`: it was a no-op for every
consumer and serialized the whole search text twice. A UI without a search
card falls back to the raw tool/result content; the TUI stays byte-identical
to the pre-search-card generic fallback.
- Bound the serialized presentationMeta with a configurable searchMetaMaxBytes
(default 64 KiB): the inline item cap does not bound bytes, and spill-policy
only shrinks content, never meta. capMetaBytes drops trailing groups/paths.
- Share one retention pass (retainGrepMatches/retainGlobPaths in search-core)
between the model-facing render and the meta projection; remove the second
cap/preview implementation and the presentation<->grep module cycle by
moving GrepMatch/previewLine to search-core.
- Rename the result-view discriminant kind -> shape so it no longer collides
with GenericCallView.kind (ToolCallKind, whose values include 'search').
- Narrow the entry export surface to consumed symbols.
- Sync the three bilingual ToolResultView doc pairs and the Agent Note pair;
document the deliberate empty-card acceptance vs diffsFromMeta.
- Regenerate config/tool/cordis catalogs for the new config field.
Bring the TUI diff footer onto the same terminator rule and distinct-path
count the Web DiffBlock uses (a trailing newline terminates its line; two
hunks in one file read as 1 file), so the two front ends' `+A -R · N file(s)`
footers agree. Reserve space in the diff path header for the floating copy
button so a long path no longer scrolls under it. Pass the tool's raw path to
the injected openFile (which already resolves against cwd) instead of resolving
twice. Rename the shared block-body CSS class to a card-neutral cardBody so a
terminal-spacing tweak cannot silently move the diff card. Add a same-file
two-hunk TUI unit test and an assembled built-boot assertion that the write
turn renders +1 -0 · 1 file end to end.
Rewrite the Agent Note's stale 'TUI has no web arm' claim to match the
web fallback branch this PR added to transcript.ts. Replace the hardcoded
line-number comment with a symbolic reference, and mark the web arm's
unreachable optional-chain undefined side with a reasoned v8 ignore for
the per-file 100% branch gate.
Route a `web` result card's raw-content fallback through the TUI's dim
Markdown path (render() only recognized `card: 'generic'` as markdown
content, so web fallback rendered as bare undimmed text).
Memoize renderFetchOutput per (result, maxOutputChars) so the registry's
twin output.render / output.presentationMeta calls on the same frozen
result run one HTML->markdown conversion instead of two.
Remove the trailing `</content>`/`</invoke>` protocol residue from both
sides of the web-result-card Agent Note and re-record the pairing.
Address the code-review bot findings on the web result card:
- web_fetch's card truncated now derives from the shared renderFetchOutput
helper, matching the effective truncation the model-facing text reflects
(provider cap, source cut, or output cap), instead of the provider-only flag.
- Drop the redundant content copy from both web result views; a UI without the
web capability falls back to the raw tool/result content. Narrow the TUI
transcript view.content access accordingly.
- Set the result-state title from the call args (query/url) so a window-
truncated replay keeps a title.
- Project meta from the seam result types rather than hand-rolled value types.
- Sync the card vocabulary across core tools README, docs/core-data-structures,
the adding-a-tool cookbook, and the tool-web package README (both languages,
re-recorded pairings); regenerate the cordis api-catalog and cordis-inspect
snapshot; revise the Agent Note.
A read result now carries card:'read', but render()'s genericContent gate was
card==='generic' only, so the read body kept its text yet lost the dim-Markdown
dimBody treatment the generic card gave it. Admit card:'read' to that gate so
its content fallback takes the same dim path, restoring read's TUI rendering to
what it was before the read card existed. Refresh the parallel-file-reads TUI
golden accordingly and correct the Note's TUI claim on both language sides.
A plugin owning a standalone open/close bracket cannot tell a dead marker
from a live one: an unmatched `compact/start` reads identically whether the
previous writer died mid-compaction or a compaction is running now.
`Session.firstLiveSeq` already holds that answer exactly, but only in memory.
Append the log-only `session/inherited` event at that seq from the seeded
constructor — the single waist all six seeded-start paths pass through
(resume, configured startup on a persisted id, `sessions.fork()`, a subagent
fork child, `adopt()`'s live prefix, and a bare seeded `create`). Read it
through the new `isInheritedSeq(events, seq)`.
The constructor placement means persistence needs no changes: the marker is
already in `events` when a backend captures the creation seed, so it rides
the ordinary seed path with no load-time write. It also covers fork, where
the inherited bracket's owner may still be running — the case a
persistence-layer boundary could not reach.
Activity ordering excludes the boundary through `lastActivityTime()`, since
lazy resume makes browsing a pickup and the three call sites would otherwise
float every opened session to the top of a picker or list.
Conflicts, all in files this branch and master both touched:
- `chat/helpers.ts` — kept both sides. Master replaced the inline env
filter in `gitBranch` with `scrubbedParentEnv()`; this branch added the
surface-marker and compaction-source imports.
- `docs/module-graph.md` — regenerated. Both sides added a `tui` edge
(master `subprocess`, this branch `compact`); the generated row now
carries both.
- Three `.i18n.yaml` pairing records — re-recorded from the merged files.
Blob hashes cannot be hand-merged, and both sides' prose survives on
each side of every pair.
`docs/cordis-catalog/services.md` also regenerated for shifted source
lines and master's new `sessionTitle.rename` entry.
