Node >= 21 exposes a global `navigator` reporting the machine's own language,
so gating detection on `navigator` let a non-browser boot of the client tree
resolve to `en` instead of the documented fallback; `window` is the browser
test. `navigator.languages` is spec-required but absent on some embedders and
older WebViews, where spreading it would throw at boot, so the walk tolerates
its absence and `navigator.language` covers that host.
The per-spec pin boilerplate collapses into one suite-level
`usePinnedBrowserLanguages('zh-CN')`, which owns the rationale in
dsh-client-test-runtime, and the English-browser e2e scenario now clears the
console warnings channel too — its page has no closing inventory spec.
A first visit resolved to Chinese regardless of the browser: LocaleService
read `dsh.locale` and fell straight back to `zh` when nothing was stored,
ignoring the languages the browser already states it reads.
The initial locale now resolves through three ordered sources — the persisted
preference, then `navigator` (first entry of the ordered language list whose
primary subtag names a shipped locale, so `zh-Hans-CN` -> zh and `en-GB` ->
en), then `FALLBACK_LOCALE`. An explicit choice still wins and nothing writes
the detected locale back to storage, so "has the user chosen?" stays a
question only the stored value answers.
Specs asserting the shipped Chinese copy now state the browser they assume:
the web e2e scenarios open their page with `locale: ZH_BROWSER_LOCALE`, and
package specs pin it through the new `pinBrowserLanguages` test helper.
`settings-chrome.e2e.ts` gains an English-browser scenario as the
assembled-app proof.
Consume the card:'read' result view (path, numbered lines, totalLines, lang)
the read backend PR added. ReadBlock (ui-primitives) draws a per-line gutter
with each line's own file number, shiki highlighting via a new highlightLines
returning per-line token arrays, a 显示 X / Y 行 window note, a height cap
matching TerminalBlock, and a copy control. read-card-model is the single
resultView derivation; a keyed ReadRow registers under read with the card
resident under its path-link summary. The generic fallback and the details
panel are read-aware. Fixture gains a windowed read turn for the built-boot
snapshot.
Consume the card:'web' result view (structured sources + answer for search, the
URL and HTTP status for fetch) the web backend PR added. WebBlock
(ui-primitives) draws both kinds via the kind discriminant: a citation list of
safe external links (the MarkdownText protocol allowlist, title-or-hostname
label), a truncation indicator, a height cap matching TerminalBlock; a fetch
summary for the other kind. web-card-model is the single resultView derivation;
a keyed WebRow registers under web_search and web_fetch with the card resident
under its summary. The generic fallback and the details panel are web-aware.
Fixture gains web_search and web_fetch turns for the built-boot snapshot.
Consume the card:'search' result view (matches grouped by file for grep, a
path list for glob) the search backend PR added. SearchBlock (ui-primitives)
draws both kinds via the kind discriminant with a per-file collapse, a
truncation pill, a height cap matching TerminalBlock, and a copy control;
search-card-model is the single resultView derivation; a keyed SearchRow
registers under grep and glob with the card resident under its summary. The
generic fallback and the details panel are search-aware. Fixture gains grep and
glob turns for the built-boot snapshot.
Unify the /plan claimed hint with the plan placeholder through a locale
namespace, localize slash menu group titles, replace the PermissionSelect
native select with the Menu primitive, add a goal pause verb chain, clamp
anchored popups to the viewport with scroll-into-view and outside-dismiss,
and fix onPasteUpgrade insertedRange to account for the chip trailing gap.
The pending question now owns exactly two surfaces: the redesigned
QuestionComposer takeover (footer pager, checkbox multi-select,
always-visible custom input, locale-injected bilingual chrome) collects
the answers, and a dedicated ask_user_question toolview row reports the
interaction outcome — waiting, N/M answered, cancelled (ASK_CANCELLED),
or interrupted with stopped semantics (ASK_ABORTED). PendingCard narrows
to approval waits only. Toolview leading icons and the hover chevron
unify on the tertiary label color, the checklist glyph matches the
14px figma extract, and dev-watch registers CSS modules so css-only
edits rebuild.
The five ui-conversation machinery specs (apply-inject, chat-apply,
chat-toolview-slot, service-orchestration, selection-survival — now .tsx)
and the web app/app-shell specs assemble through the runtime instead of
hand-built Context + SlotsService + fake-session scaffolding per suite.
Session behavior mocks are typed against ISession, so incomplete fakes
fail at compile time.
A provider roster change under a stable current id rematerialized every
scope's bundle but nothing notified React: SessionProvider resolved the
bundle from a current-id subscription only, so mounted entries kept the
obsolete hook/prop schema until an unrelated re-render. The sessions
service now owns an atomic currentProvide observable fed by both current
writes and roster changes; the renderer host exposes it as
sessions.provide, replacing the current/provideInfo/maybeProvideInfo
trio, and both providers subscribe to it.
Mechanical --fix output over the newly linted .tsx files (indent,
arrow-parens, comma-dangle, member-delimiter-style, unnecessary type
assertions), plus the three generic-arrow test hooks converted to
function declarations up front: the comma-dangle fixer strips the
<T,> disambiguation comma and turns them into parse errors otherwise.
eslint --fix autofixes plus manual repairs: max-len line splits
(fake-api handlers, notifier/slots JSDoc, spec signatures), charAt over
non-null-asserted indexing in slash detect/menu cores, Array.from for
code-point capping, typeof assertions for unbound-method in specs,
generic getByRole for the send-button cast, effect disposer void-wrap in
command register, and dropped unused type imports.
Add the browser Settings surface as slot-composed plugins over new
preference services:
- Rename dsh-client-i18n to dsh-client-locale (locale is the domain
name); LocaleService adds getLocale()/setLocale(id), immutable
snapshots, a locale/change event, and dsh.locale persistence.
- ThemeService owns the light/dark/system preference (default system),
resolves system via prefers-color-scheme, publishes theme/change
snapshots, persists dsh.theme, and no longer touches the DOM;
ui-layout's ThemePresenter applies resolved snapshots
(body[data-ds-dark-theme] + alias tokens) and cleans up on dispose.
- ui-sidebar drops the phase-1 settings dropdown/modal; the foot renders
the new sidebar.settings slot with the column state.
- New ui-settings shell occupies sidebar.settings: foot trigger row and
the centered 1080x700 panel (figma 501:29947) with 24% mask, close
button / mask click / Escape all closing, and a 188px nav projected
from the settings.section list slot it declares. Nav labels are
registrant-localized; sections re-register on locale change, so the
ledger version is the shell's only subscription.
- ui-settings-general registers the General section: Permission and
Tool Call skeletons, live Language (locale menu) and Appearance
(Light/Dark/System cubes following the persisted preference); its
slot store mirrors both service snapshots via apply-side listeners.
- ui-settings-models registers the Models nav entry with an empty
content column.
- Portaled menus pin z-index above modal overlays (a menu anchored
inside the settings dialog rendered underneath it and was
unclickable).
- theme/data/list-pen icons in ui-primitives; settings copy ships as
zh/en dictionaries; fixture manifests gain the settings rows.
TodoPanel pins above the composer (776px card axis), hidden while empty,
collapsible with the active item as the collapsed hint; status glyphs
mirror the TUI plan panel. todo_write rows render a plan-flavored summary
(counts + active item) via the toolview registry, generic fallback on
malformed args. Existing fake snapshots gain the required todos field.
Four rounds of structural rework on the conversation surface, converging
on one registration model for the whole client:
- Review fixes: open() leaves the inject factory (SessionsService owns
the semantic); ConversationService mounts via ctx.plugin(); the
bespoke view registry retires into the 'conversation.view' list slot.
- Ring alignment: createChatView factory retired (components get
everything through checkable shares at the register call site); the
hand-rolled t/i18n threading is deleted wholesale — a future
framework-level i18n will supply t as a standard prop keyed by slot
name, so no interim manual channel.
- Toolview dissolution: ToolViewRegistry / ToolViewResolver /
ToolViewOutlet / ctx.toolviews retire. Tool rows are entries of the
'conversation.chat.toolview' keyed slot (scope: session) declared by
the chat entry; ToolRowOwnerProps is the unified owner payload;
GenericToolCard becomes the call-site fallback; registrants are plain
plugins (inject ['slots','conversation'] as the load-order seam);
session-dimension dispatch moves into components (useSessions reads
parentId); trajectory/waterfall gain same-shape slots the day they
render tool rows (RendersCheck rejects empty declarations). Slot
names mirror the composition path (<domain>.<entry>.<hole>).
- Staging follows current: cell()/binding() are pure resolution
(render-safe); the constructor subscribes to the list store and
followCurrent opens the event window when the current session
changes — staging IS the open signal, business verbs are the timing,
React render/commit is decoupled from window lifecycle. A masked
current (projection gap) keeps the stage untouched so deferred
teardown semantics survive reconnects.
Agent Note: .agents/notes/implemented/architecture/
2026-07-23-toolview-dissolution.md (bilingual pair) records the
decision, the four rejected alternatives, and the accepted semantic
changes; the web client architecture note and packages/client/AGENTS.md
carry the current-state narrative.
Verified: typecheck 0, duplication 0 clones (478 files), full coverage
run 6190 passed with zero threshold errors, knip 0, doc-sync 24/24,
client aggregate tsc 0, render-count checks (one commit per chunk, zero
row re-renders under streaming) green.
